Baivab, Sunyasakta, Prayansu, Miracle triumph

Baivab Mishra (Puri), Sunyasakta Satpathy (Khurda), Prayansu Prasmit (Khurda) and Miracle Panda (Khurda) emerged champions in different categories of the Odisha State Under-17 and Under-7 Chess Championships, which concluded here at Srusti Academy of Management, Patia today.

The title winners in each category received a cash prize of Rs 1,500 each. The under-17 girls` category featured five rounds, while that of under-17 open, under-7 open and under-7 girls were seven-round affairs. Chairman of Srusti Academy of Management, Saroj Kumar Sahoo, host All Odisha Chess Association secretary Vivek Kumar Tibarewal gave away the prizes at the closing function.

Top two boys and top three girls of the State u-7 event qualified for the related National championship to be held at Pune from May 1 to 9, while the top two finishers in both open and girls categories of the state u-17 competition became eligible represent Odisha in the u-17 National championship slated to be held in Assam from May 1 to 9.

U-17 OPEN:
1. Baivab Mishra (6); 2-4: Sidhant Mohapatra, Rakesh Kumar Nayak, Rakesh Kumar Jena (each 5.5); 5-9: Bhaskar Sri Viswaroopanand, Pranab Kumar Patra, Rabin Mohapatra, Nilsu Pattnayak, Baibhab Singh (5 each); 10. Ashirwad Swain (4.5).

U-17 GIRLS: 1. Sunyasakta Satpathy (4.4); 2-4: Smaraki Mohanty, Rutumbara Bidhar, Nabanita Pattanayak (4 each); 5-7: Akankhya Kabi, Sovna Sonali Jena, Gitashree Biswal (3 each); 8-10: Hanshika Mohapatra, Anisha Mishra, Rasmita Bisoi (each 2.5).

U-7 OPEN: 1. Prayansu Prasmit (7), 2. Manish Kumar (6); 3-4: Shreyash Subham Patnaik, Devanssh Das (each 5.5); 5-10: Amrit Kumar Mohanty, Aditya Akash Jena, Atmajyoti Panda, Subha Prakash Sahoo, Soni Ram, Ritish Kumar Sahu (5 each).

U-7 GIRLS: 1. Miracle Panda (6.5), 2. Adishree Anjum Nayak (6), 3-4: Prakruti Rout, P Sairupa (5 each); 5. Tanya Mohanta (4.5); 6-9: Siona Mohanty, Diya Das, Manyata Tripathy, Anuska P Mohanty (4 each); 10. Shreya Mohanty (3.5).
